Un nuevo fantasma recorre Europa: el miedo preventivo. La vergonzosa decisión de la Deutsche Oper de Berlin de retirar de su programación de otoño la ópera Idomeneo de Mozart por razones de seguridad, ha sido algo más que una triste noticia; prolonga en nuestro Viejo Continente la mentalidad de impotencia y rendición frente a los musulmanes fanáticos y extremistas. La directora de la ópera ha justificado el cierre porque “supone correr grandes riegos y todos han visto las consecuencias de las viñetas danesas”. Cualquier pretexto es bueno para dar un paso hacia atrás y no herir la sensibilidad de los fundamentalistas. Pero, por cierto, ¿dónde están las protestas de católicos, budistas o griegos? Las cabezas cortadas que aparecían en el montaje eran las de Mahoma, pero también las de Poseidón, Buda y Jesucristo.

En estos años Europa no ha aprendido nada. No ha querido aprender, que es lo más grave. Si la condena a muerte de Salman Rushdie en 1989 cogió por sorpresa a los europeos –no se esperaban que un régimen islámico pudiera prometer el cielo a cualquiera que muriera matando a un ciudadano británico por un libro que narra la historia de dos hindúes musulmanes– diecisiete años después apenas reaccionan ante las fatuas que condenan a muerte al Papa por sus palabras en un foro universitario. Si ya fue bastante humillante la súplica del perdón de Javier Solana –en nombre de todos los europeos– por las viñetas de Mahoma, esta vez, y como ha denunciado Barroso, ni un solo líder europeo ha tenido el valor de alzar su voz para decir que el Papa tiene derecho a expresar su opinión, y que además sus palabras no son el problema, sino la reacción de los extremistas. Es el miedo preventivo.

¿Cómo quiere esta Europa que alguien la tome en serio? Mientras se reúnen una y otra vez para debatir sobre ampliación, inmigración, seguridad, futuro...olvidan lo más importante: nuestros valores y nuestra cultura. Capitulan ante los que les pisotean la libertad de expresión y de pensamiento, la democracia, la razón, el respecto mutuo. Son precisamente estos principios los que teóricamente alejan a Europa de ser un simple concepto geográfico. Pero desgraciadamente parece que los europeos están perdiendo la memoria. Todo lo más que cabe esperar, en el mejor de los casos, son más buenas palabras, cuando lo que se necesitan son hechos, bien tangibles y reales.

With suicide bombings spreading from Iraq to Afghanistan, the Pentagon has tasked intelligence analysts to pinpoint what's driving Muslim after Muslim to do the unthinkable.
Their preliminary finding is politically explosive: it's their "holy book" the Quran after all, according to intelligence briefings.
In public, the U.S. government has made an effort to avoid linking the terrorist threat to Islam and the Quran while dismissing suicide terrorists as crazed heretics who pervert Islamic teachings.
"The terrorists distort the idea of jihad into a call for violence and murder," the White House maintains in its recently released "National Strategy for Combating Terrorism" report.
But internal Pentagon briefings show intelligence analysts have reached a wholly different conclusion after studying Islamic scripture and the backgrounds of suicide terrorists. They've found that most Muslim suicide bombers are in fact students of the Quran who are motivated by its violent commands – making them, as strange as it sounds to the West, "rational actors" on the Islamic stage.

In Islam, it is not how one lives one's life that guarantees spiritual salvation, but how one dies, according to the briefings. There are great advantages to becoming a martyr. Dying while fighting the infidels in the cause of Allah reserves a special place and honor in Paradise. And it earns special favor with Allah.
"Suicide in defense of Islam is permitted, and the Islamic suicide bomber is, in the main, a rational actor," concludes a recent Pentagon briefing paper titled, "Motivations of Muslim Suicide Bombers."
Suicide for Allah a 'win-win'
"His actions provide a win-win scenario for himself, his family, his faith and his God," the document explains. "The bomber secures salvation and the pleasures of Paradise. He earns a degree of financial security and a place for his family in Paradise. He defends his faith and takes his place in a long line of martyrs to be memorialized as a valorous fighter.
"And finally, because of the manner of his death, he is assured that he will find favor with Allah," the briefing adds. "Against these considerations, the selfless sacrifice by the individual Muslim to destroy Islam's enemies becomes a suitable, feasible and acceptable course of action."
The briefing – produced by a little-known Pentagon intelligence unit called the Counterintelligence Field Activity, or CIFA – cites a number of passages from the Quran dealing with jihad, or "holy" warfare, martyrdom and Paradise, where "beautiful mansions" and "maidens" await martyr heroes. In preparation for attacks, suicide terrorists typically recite passages from six surahs, or chapters, of the Quran: Baqura (Surah 2), Al Imran (3), Anfal (8), Tawba (9), Rahman (55) and Asr (103).
CIFA staffs hundreds of investigators and analysts to help coordinate Pentagon security efforts at U.S. military installations at home and abroad.
The Pentagon unit is especially concerned about a new wave of suicide bombings hitting Afghanistan.
Suicide bombings have killed more than 200 people in Afghanistan this year, up from single digits two years ago. On Tuesday, a suicide bomber detonated his explosive vest and killed 18 outside an Afghan government compound. Last week, a suicide bomber riding a bike killed at least four NATO soldiers. And earlier this month, a suicide car bomber rammed into a U.S. military convoy near the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, killing 16 people, including two American soldiers.
500 suicide bombers in reserve
The U.S. command in Afghanistan now warns that a suicide bombing cell is operating inside the Afghan capital. Meanwhile, the Taliban's top military commander told ABC News he has 500 suicide bombers at his disposal.
"We have so many of them that it is difficult to accommodate and arm and equip them," Mullah Dadullah Akhund said. "Some of them have been waiting for a year or more for their turn to be sent to the battlefield."
The emergence of a suicide cell in Kabul troubles military analysts because suicide attacks are the most effective weapon Muslim terrorists can use against the West. The Rand Corp. predicts they'll pose a serious and constant threat to the U.S. for years to come.
The U.S. intelligence community is growing increasingly worried, as well.
"Most jihadist groups will use suicide attacks focused primarily on soft targets to implement asymmetric warfare strategy," warns the just-declassified executive summary of the National Intelligence Estimate on the global terror threat. "Fighters with experience in Iraq are a potential source of leadership for jihadists pursuing these tactics."
Many scholars and media pundits, however, insist Muslim suicide bombers are not driven by religion.
"Beneath the religious rhetoric with which [such terror] is perpetrated, it occurs largely in the service of secular aims," claims Professor Robert A. Pape of the University of Chicago. "Suicide terrorism is mainly a response to foreign occupation rather than a product of Islamic fundamentalism."
He says U.S. foreign policy is more a factor than faith.
"Though it speaks of Americans as infidels, al-Qaida is less concerned with converting us to Islam than removing us from Arab and Muslim lands," Pape said.
But what about the recent video by Adam Gadahn, the American al-Qaida, warning fellow Americans to convert to Islam before al-Qaida attacks again?
"He never mentions virgins or the benefits Islamic martyrs receive in Heaven," Pape asserted.
In fact, Gadahn notes 36 minutes into his speech that Allah reserves the highest rewards – "honors and delights" – for martyrs in Paradise.
"[He] promised the martyr in his path the reward over and above the reward of the believer," Gadahn said. "He has promised them honors and delights too numerous to go into here."
The 9/11 hijackers and the London bombers made martyrdom videos. In their last testaments, they recite the Quran while talking of their "love of death" and "sacrificing life for Allah." Seven martyrdom videotapes also were recovered by British authorities in the foiled transatlantic sky terror plot.
Before the 9/11 attacks, the hijackers shaved and doused themselves with flower water in preparation for their weddings with the beautiful virgins in Paradise. "Know that the women of Paradise are waiting, calling out 'Come hither, friend of Allah,'" according to a four-page letter circulated among them titled "THE LAST NIGHT." "They have dressed in their most beautiful clothing."
But are the virgins scriptural or apocryphal? French documentarian Pierre Rehov, who interviewed the families of suicide bombers and would-be bombers in an attempt to find out why they do it, says it's not a myth or fantasy of heretics.
He says there's no doubt the Quran "promises virgins" to Muslim men who die while fighting infidels in jihad, and it's a key motivating factor behind suicide terrorism.
"It's obviously connected to religion," said Rehov, who features his interviews with Muslims in a recently released film, "Suicide Killers." "They really believe they are going to get the virgins."
He says would-be Muslim suicide bombers he's interviewed have shown him passages in the Quran "in which it's absolutely written that they're going to get the girls in the afterlife."
Muslim clerics do not disavow the virgins-for-martyrs reward as a perverted interpretation of the Quran.
And even Muslim leaders in the West condone suicide bombings. British scholar Azzam Tamimi recently told 8,000 Muslims in Manchester, England, that dying while fighting "George Bush and Tony Blair" is "just" and "the greatest act of martyrdom." Earlier, he said it's "the straight way to pleasing Allah."
And the founder of an allegedly mainstream Muslim group in Washington – the Council on American-Islamic Relations – also has given his blessing to suicide bombings.
Addressing a youth session at the 1999 Islamic Association for Palestine's annual convention in Chicago, CAIR founder Omar Ahmad praised suicide bombers who "kill themselves for Islam," according to a transcript provided by terror expert Steve Emerson's Investigative Project.
"Fighting for freedom, fighting for Islam, that is not suicide," Ahmad asserted. "They kill themselves for Islam."
Osama bin Laden has encouraged "Muslims brothers" to defeat the U.S. and U.K. with suicide attacks.
"I tell you to act upon the orders of Allah," he said in 2003, "be united against Bush and Blair and defeat them through suicide attacks so that you may be successful before Allah."

Cuando estéis de viaje, no hay inconveniente en que abreviéis la azalá, si teméis un ataque de los infieles. Los infieles son para vosotros un enemigo declarado.102. Cuando estés con ellos y les dirijas la azalá, que un grupo se mantenga de pie a tu lado, arma en mano. Cuando se hayan prosternado, que vayan atrás y que otro grupo que aún no haya orado venga y ore contigo. ¡Que tengan cuidado y no dejen las armas de la mano! Los infieles querrían que descuidarais vuestras armas e impedimenta para echarse de improviso sobre vosotros. Cuando encontréis a una tropa ¡manteneos firmes y recordad mucho a Alá! ¡Quizás, así, consigáis la victoria!57. Si, pues, das con ellos en la guerra, que sirva de escarmiento a los que les siguen. Quizás, así, se dejen amonestar.59. ¡Que no crean los infieles que van a escapar! ¡No podrán!60. ¡Preparad contra ellos toda la fuerza, toda la caballería que podáis para amedrentar al enemigo de Alá y vuestro y a otros fuera de ellos, que no conocéis pero que Alá conoce! Quizás, así, desistan.13. ¿Cómo no vais a combatir contra gente que ha violado su juramento, que hubiera preferido expulsar al Enviado y os atacó primero? ¿Les tenéis miedo, siendo así que Alá tiene más derecho a que Le tengáis miedo? Si es que sois creyentes...14. ¡Combatid contra ellos! Alá le castigará a manos vuestras y les llenará de vergüenza, mientras que a vosotros os auxiliará contra ellos, curando así los pechos de gente creyente. 16. ¿O es que habéis creído que se os iba a dejar en paz y que Alá aún no conoce a quienes de vosotros han combatido sin trabar amistad con nadie, fuera de Alá, de Su Enviado y de los creyentes? Alá está bien informado de lo que hacéis.22. en los que estarán eternamente, para siempre. Alá tiene junto a Sí una magnífica recompensa.29. ¡Combatid contra quienes, habiendo recibido la Escritura, no creen en Alá ni en el último Día, ni prohíben lo que Alá y Su Enviado han prohibido, ni practican la religión verdadera, hasta que, humillados, paguen el tributo directamente!36. El número de meses, para Alá, es de doce. Fueron inscritos en la Escritura de Alá el día que creó los cielos y la tierra. De ellos, cuatro son sagrados: ésa es la religión verdadera. ¡No seáis injustos con vosotros mismos no respetándolos! ¡Y combatid todos contra los asociadores como ellos también combaten todos contra vosotros! Y sabed que Alá está con los que Le temen.38. ¡Creyentes! ¿Qué os pasa? ¿Por qué, cuando se os dice: «¡Id a la guerra por la causa de Alá!» permanecéis clavados en tierra? ¿Preferís la vida de acá a la otra? Y ¿qué es el breve disfrute de la vidad de acá comparado con la otra, sino bien poco...?39. Si no vais a la guerra, os infligirá un doloroso castigo. Hará que otro pueblo os sustituya, sin que podáis causarle ningún daño. Alá es omnipotente.41. ¡Id a la guerra, tanto si os es fácil como si os es difícil! ¡Luchad por Alá con vuestra hacienda y vuestras personas! Es mejor para vosotros. Si supierais...47. Si os hubieran acompañado a la guerra, no habrían hecho más que aumentar la confusión y habrían sembrado la desconfianza entre vosotros, buscando soliviantaros. Hay entre vosotros quienes dan oídos a lo que dicen, pero Alá conoce bien a los impíos.56. Juran por Alá que son, sí, de los vuestros, pero no lo son, sino que son gente que tiene miedo. 57. Si encontraran un refugio o cuevas o algún sitio donde poder esconderse irían allá a toda prisa. Acepción de personas71. Pero los creyentes y las creyentes son amigos unos de otros. Ordenan lo que está bien y prohíben lo que está mal. Hacen la azalá, dan el azaque y obedecen a Alá y a Su Enviado. De ésos se apiadará Alá. Alá es poderoso, sabio.73. ¡Profeta! ¡Combate contra los infieles y los hipócritas, sé duro con ellos! Su refugio será la gehena. ¡Qué mal fin...!81. Los dejados atrás se alegraron de poder quedarse en casa en contra del Enviado de Alá. Les repugnaba luchar por Alá con su hacienda y sus personas y decían: «No vayáis a la guerra con este calor». Di: «El fuego de la gehena es aún más caliente». Si entendieran...82. ¡Que rían, pues, un poco! Ya llorarán, y mucho, como retribución de lo que han cometido.83. Si Alá vuelve a llevarte a un grupo de ellos y te piden permiso para ir a la guerra, di: «¡No iréis nunca conmigo! ¡No combatiréis conmigo contra ningún enemigo! Preferisteis una vez quedaros en casa. ¡Quedaos, pues, con los que se quedan detrás!»86. Cuando se revela una sura: «¡Creed en Alá y combatid junto a Su Enviado», los más ricos de ellos te piden permiso y dicen: «¡Deja que nos quedemos con los que se quedan!»88. Pero el Enviado y los que con él creen combaten con su hacienda y sus personas. Suyas serán las cosas buenas. Ésos son los que prosperarán.91. Si son sinceros para con Alá y con Su Enviado, no habrá nada que reprochar a los débiles, a los enfermos, a los que no encuentran los medios. No hay motivo contra los que obran con honradez. Alá es indulgente, misericordioso.92. Tampoco contra aquellos a quienes, viniendo a ti para que les facilites montura, dices: «No os encuentro montura» y se vuelven con los ojos arrasados de lágrimas de tristeza porque no encuentran los medios.95. Cuando regreséis a ellos os pedirán, jurando por Alá, que les dejéis. Dejadles, pues, son una abominación. Su morada será la gehena como retribución de lo que han cometido.111. Previsibles y poco conmovedoras son las reacciones de angustia y estupor de intelectuales, políticos y observadores occidentales ante la furia del mundo islámico por un comentario y una cita que el papa Benedicto XVI hizo en referencia a la incuestionablemente arraigada vocación del islam de imponerse por la fuerza. Nadie rebate al Papa, pero todos lo consideran culpable del conflicto. En el mundo islámico tampoco hay mayor sorpresa. El habitual celo de los moderados por dar la razón a los radicales se ve bien combinado con los insultos y maldiciones al Papa y a Occidente por favorecer, supuestamente a los radicales. Ni una voz surge con el coraje de decirles a los suyos que su indignación es gratuita, inducida o hipócrita. De la escuela coránica más fanática en Karachi a las mansiones de los funcionarios de la Organización de la Conferencia Islámica (OCI) con los niños en internados en Suiza, todos dicen saber que la culpa de que el islamismo genere sociedades fracasadas, jamás libres, y sea incapaz de afrontar la modernidad, la tienen los demás, “los cruzados”, ahora el Papa.
En su discurso de Ratisbona, el pontífice se refería al rechazo que cualquier adoración a Dios ha de tener a los intentos de sus fieles de forzar su expansión por la violencia. Incluida la fe cristiana, que durante tanto tiempo lo hizo. Había mucho de autocrítica de la Iglesia de Roma cuando así se expresaba el Papa en su patria bávara, bastión de la contrarreforma. Pero estas consideraciones carecen de sentido. Primero porque los ofendidos no conciben la autocrítica. Y sobre todo porque no estamos ante una reacción de genuina ofensa o buena fe traicionada sino ante una nueva operación de la vanguardia radical del islamismo para reafirmar el secuestro de la comunidad religiosa islámica mundial y elevar un grado más la amenaza a las sociedades libres. Pagamos hoy también la muy indigna reacción de la mayor parte del mundo occidental en la crisis de las viñetas de Mahoma, cuando quedaron en evidencia las fisuras y dudas sobre nuestros principios en Occidente. El ejército de caricaturistas, intelectuales y políticos que se prodigan en guasear sobre un Cristo o el Papa se abstuvieron de solidarizarse con los daneses y de paso los tacharon de ultraderechistas. Las comunidades islámicas en Europa saben ya cómo callar bocas.
En todo caso sería ahora conveniente que nos diéramos cuenta de que la reacción habida demuestra brutalmente la profunda verdad que ha expresado el Papa. Y desvela la falacia de la teoría de que un cambio nuestro de conducta puede llevar al islam a adecuarse y a renunciar a un Dios total en la vida diaria y política de los individuos y los pueblos. Ese viejo dilema entre lo de Dios y lo del César. Desde la buena o la mala fe, el islam ha de saber que nuestro César es el Estado de derecho y las libertades, la de expresión la primera, no negociable con Dios alguno.
El islam que se dice moderado debería movilizarse para hacer frente a quienes se atribuyen el monopolio de su fe. Y no podemos ayudarle. Sería muy útil que se revolviera contra la manipulación, sacara a la gente a la calle cada vez que desde televisiones como Al Yazira o Al Manar se utiliza a Alá para llamar al crimen, a mutilar a mujeres, celebrar asesinatos, demandar la reconquista de Andalucía, Sicilia o los Balcanes o aplaudir al presidente iraní cuando promete exterminar a los judíos. En caso contrario, esos ejercicios de moderación de reyes, ulemas, generales o intelectuales se antojan un cálculo cínico o indiferente que compra seguridad al fanático a cambio de manos libres para atacar a Occidente. Los sabios templados del mundo islámico son hoy tan irrelevantes como la leyenda del idílico Al Andalus, ese producto ideológico turístico sevillano. Es el islam el que debe dejar de amenazar, quemar y matar por el hecho de que alguien hable, escriba o dibuje. Muchos creen que el intelectual Benedicto XVI no era consciente de los efectos posibles de su discurso. Puede que sí y pensara que reprimir verdades urgentes sólo favorece a quienes se mecen en la mentira o el miedo. Lamentar los dolores que la verdad produce no significa pedir perdón por expresarla. Ratisbona se perfila ya como el primer gran favor que Benedicto XVI nos hace desde su pontificado a todos, al islam y a Occidente.

The new al-Qaida field commander in Afghanistan is calling for Muslims to leave the U.S. – particularly Washington and New York – in anticipation of a major terror attack to rival Sept. 11, according to an interview by a Pakistani journalist.
Abu Dawood told Hamid Mir, a reporter who has covered al-Qaida and met with Osama bin Laden, the attack is being coordinated by Adnan el-Shukrijumah and suggests it may involve some form of weapon of mass destruction smuggled across the Mexican border.
"Our brothers are ready to attack inside America. We will breach their security again," he is quoted as saying. "There is no timeframe for our attack inside America; we can do it any time."
As WND has previously reported, el-Shukrijumah is a trained nuclear technician and accomplished pilot who has been singled out by bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri to serve as the field commander for the next terrorist attack on U.S. soil....
"He is an American and a friend of Muhammad Atta, who led 9/11 attacks five years ago," said Dawood. "We call him 'Jaffer al Tayyar' (Jafer the Pilot); he is very brave and intelligent. (President) Bush is aware that brother Adnan has smuggled deadly materials inside America from the Mexican border. Bush is silent about him, because he doesn’t want to panic his people. Sheikh Osama bin Laden has completed his cycle of warnings. You know, he is man of his words, he is not a politician; he always does what he says. If he said it many times that Americans will see new attacks, they will definitely see new attacks. He is a real mujahid. Americans will not win this war, which they have started against Muslims. Americans are the biggest supporters of the biggest terrorist in the world, which is Israel."...
"We have a different plan for the next attack," he told Mir. "You will see. Americans will hardly find out any Muslim names, after the next attack. Most of our brothers are living in Western countries, with Jewish and Christian names, with passports of Western countries. This time, someone with the name of Mohamed Atta will not attack inside America, it would be some David, Richard or Peter."
He said there will be another audio message from bin Laden aired within the next two weeks.
Mir reportedly interviewed Dawood Sept. 12 at the tomb of Sultan Mehmud Ghaznawi on the outskirts of Kabul. Dawood and the al-Qaida leaders who accompanied him were clean-shaven and dressed as Western reporters. The al-Qaida commander had contacted Mir by cell phone to arrange the meeting.
"You have witnessed the brutality of the Israelis in the recent 34-day war against Lebanese civilians," said Dawood. "9/11 was a revenge of Palestinian children, killed by the U.S.-made weapons, supplied to Israel. The next attack on America would be a revenge of Lebanese children killed by U.S.-made cluster bombs. Bush and (British Prime Minister Tony) Blair are the Crusaders, and Muslim leaders, like (Pakistani President Pervez) Musharraf and (Afghani President Hamid) Karzai are their collaborators. We will teach a lesson to all of them."...
"Muslims should leave America," said Dawood. "We cannot stop our attack just because of the American Muslims; they must realize that American forces are killing innocent Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq; we have the right to respond back, in the same manner, in the enemy's homeland. The American Muslims are like a human shield for our enemy; they must leave New York and Washington."
Mir, the journalist, has reported previously that al-Qaida has smuggled nuclear weapons and uranium into the U.S.
"I am saying that Muslims must leave America, but we can attack America anytime," he said. "Our cycle of warnings has been completed, now we have fresh edicts from some prominent Muslim scholars to destroy our enemy, this is our defending of Jihad; the enemy has entered in our homes and we have the right to enter in their homes, they are killing us, we will kill them."

While most of the reporting and analysis of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's speech at the U.N. focused on what he had to say about the West and specifically the U.S., his chilling closing remarks were lost on most listeners – and apparently all reporters.
The last two paragraphs of his remarks revealed his steadfast and driving conviction,that a messianic figure, known as the "Mahdi" to Muslims, is poised to reveal himself after an apocalyptic holocaust on Earth that leaves most of the world's population dead.
"I emphatically declare that today's world, more than ever before, longs for just and righteous people with love for all humanity; and above all longs for the perfect righteous human being and the real savior who has been promised to all peoples and who will establish justice, peace and brotherhood on the planet," Ahmadinejad said. "Oh, Almighty God, all men and women are your creatures and you have ordained their guidance and salvation. Bestow upon humanity that thirsts for justice, the perfect human being promised to all by you, and make us among his followers and among those who strive for his return and his cause."
With Iran on the verge of producing nuclear weapons and already in possession of sophisticated medium-range missiles, mystical preoccupation with the coming of a Shiite Islamic messiah is of particular concern because of Iran's potential for triggering the kind of global conflagration Ahmadinejad envisions will set the stage for the end of the world.
Ahmadinejad is on record as stating he believes he is to have a personal role in ushering in the age of the Mahdi. In a Nov. 16, 2005, speech in Tehran, he said he sees his main mission in life as to "pave the path for the glorious reappearance of Imam Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance."
According to Shiites, the 12th imam disappeared as a child in the year 941. When he returns, they believe, he will reign on earth for seven years, before bringing about a final judgment and the end of the world.
Ahmadinejad is urging Iranians to prepare for the coming of the Mahdi by turning the country into a mighty and advanced Islamic society and by avoiding the corruption and excesses of the West.
All Iran is buzzing about the Mahdi, the 12th imam and the role Iran and Ahmadinejad are playing in his anticipated return. There's a new messiah hotline. There are news agencies especially devoted to the latest developments.
"People are anxious to know when and how will he rise; what they must do to receive this worldwide salvation," says Ali Lari, a cleric at the Bright Future Institute in Iran's religious center of Qom. "The timing is not clear, but the conditions are more specific," he adds. "There is a saying: 'When the students are ready, the teacher will come.'"
Ahmadinejad and others in Iran are deadly serious about the imminent return of the 12th imam, who will prompt a global battle between good and evil (with striking parallels to biblical accounts of "Armageddon"). Some interpretations of the events that precede his coming include a war that wipes out most of the world's population.
In Iran, an institute set up in 2004 for the study and dissemination of information about the Mahdi had a staff of 160 and influence in the schools and children's magazines earlier this year. Theologians there say end-times beliefs appeal to one-fifth of the population. And the Jamkaran mosque east of Qom, 60 miles south of Tehran, is where the link between devotees and the Mahdi is closest.
As of last year, Ahmadinejad's cabinet had given $17 million to Jamkaran.
Shiite writings describe events surrounding the return of the Mahdi in apocalyptic terms. In one scenario, the forces of evil would come from Syria and Iraq and clash with forces of good from Iran. The battle would commence at Kufa – the Iraqi town near the holy city of Najaf.
Even more controversial is Ahmadinejad's repeated invocation of Imam Mahdi, known as "the Savior of Times." According to Shiite tradition, Imam Mahdi will appear on Judgment Day to herald a truly just government.
Ahmadinejad made reference to the Mahdi in his first speech to the U.N., too. He called on the "mighty Lord" to hasten the emergence of "the promised one," the one who "will fill this world with justice and peace."
Who stands in the Mahdi's way?
A top priority of Ahmadinejad is "to challenge America, which is trying to impose itself as the final salvation of the human being, and insert its unjust state [in the region]," says Hamidreza Taraghi, head of the conservative Islamic Coalition Society.
Taraghi says the U.S. is "trying to place itself as the new Mahdi." This may mean no peace with Iran, he adds, "unless America changes its hegemonic ... thinking, doesn't use nuclear weapons, [or] impose its will on other nations."
After Ahmadinejad last spoke to the United Nations, in September 2005, he told Ayatollah Javadi-Amoli in Tehran, in a videotaped discussion, about a strange, paranormal experience he had while speaking.
He recounted how he found himself bathed in light throughout the speech. But this wasn't the light directed at the podium by the U.N. and television cameras. It was, he said, a light from heaven.
According to a transcript of his comments, Ahmadinejad wasn't the only one who noticed the unearthly light. One of his aides brought it to his attention.
The Iranian president recalled being told about it by one of his delegation: "When you began with the words 'in the name of Allah,' I saw a light coming, surrounding you and protecting you to the end."
Ahmadinejad agreed that he sensed the same thing.
"On the last day when I was speaking, one of our group told me that when I started to say 'Bismillah Muhammad,' he saw a green light come from around me, and I was placed inside this aura," he says. "I felt it myself. I felt that the atmosphere suddenly changed, and for those 27 or 28 minutes, all the leaders of the world did not blink. When I say they didn't move an eyelid, I'm not exaggerating. They were looking as if a hand was holding them there, and had just opened their eyes – Alhamdulillah!"

El error de lectura de la última cinta de al-Qaeda por parte de los medios occidentales

El vídeo de 48 minutos de Al-Qaeda el 2 de septiembre presentaba una corta introducción por parte del líder en funciones del grupo Aymán al-Zawahiri, y una extensa presentación de Azzam al-Amriki (Azzam el americano), que aparentemente es el ciudadano norteamericano Adam Gadahn. El vídeo llega justo antes del quinto aniversario del ataque del 11 de Septiembre, y es el único vídeo de al-Qaeda conocido que se dedica exclusivamente a una oferta por parte del grupo a los americanos para convertirse al Islam. Hasta la fecha, los análisis mediáticos occidentales se han centrado en cuatro variantes, todas las cuales parecen arrojar el vídeo al cubo de la irrelevancia.

La principal temática de los análisis mediáticos occidentales ha sido que la cinta al-Zawahiri-Azzam es un esfuerzo - algunos lo llaman "campaña de relaciones públicas" - por suavizar la imagen de al-Qaeda, centrarse más en proselitizar que en la violencia. Por último, la cuarta temática es más o menos "el tema invisible" que entraña la tradicional ignorancia intencionada de los medios occidentales del hecho de que la audiencia de al-Qaeda es tan musulmana como americana.

Tras revisar esta cobertura mediática, existen tres motivos de preocupación. En primer lugar, parece que los medios se han saltado a la torera el pasaje de apertura de la cinta, afirmando que no había ninguna "amenaza" en el mensaje del 2 de septiembre. "Y como nuestro hermano Azaam el americano os habla", explicaba al-Zawahiri, "os habla como alguien que siente pena por el destino que aguarda a su pueblo, y como persona perceptiva que quiere sacar a su pueblo de la oscuridad a la luz". Lo que Azzam tiene que decir, afirma al-Zawahiri, "es importante y serio... suplico a Alá que abra vuestros corazones al beneficio de sus palabras y experiencia".

La amenaza de las palabras de al-Zawahiri es llamativamente evidente; afirma que existe un destino oscuro y penoso que espera a los americanos a causa de sus políticas y acciones hacia los musulmanes. Esta ignorancia provoca que el pueblo de Occidente aplauda furiosamente cuando Israel perpetra la masacre a gran escala de musulmanes en el Líbano y Palestina, y les lleva a dar su aprobación a las atrocidades que sus gobiernos cometen en Afganistán, Irak y en las demás partes del mundo musulmán y les convierte en voces de aprobación cuando sus ejércitos profanan copias del Corán en Guantánamo o los tele evangelistas insultan al profeta Mahoma, que la paz sea con Él. Estos sucesos, junto con estas reacciones, muestran una profunda animadversión e ignorancia profusa de la religión del Islam y la naturaleza de sus seguidores… Hoy, los tele evangelistas, falsos profetas y charlatanes rezan a los engaños y los analfabetos glorifican la lujuria de sangre de Israel y el excesivo apetito por la destrucción en el Líbano y Palestina".

Un segundo motivo de preocupación se encuentra en el análisis de la cinta como simple vídeo de relaciones públicas que no está relacionado con las actividades de al-Qaeda. Nada podría estar más lejos de la realidad. El vídeo del 2 de septiembre no es de ninguna manera un suceso aislado, sino parte de un esfuerzo de al-Qaeda que se inició a comienzos del 2002 en el que bin Laden y al-Zawahiri han cumplido más que adecuadamente los requisitos del profeta Mahoma para tomar medidas vis-à-vis con un enemigo antes de atacar militarmente. Existen tres de tales acciones: avisos múltiples y claros de la intención de atacar; ofertas de tregua; y llamamientos públicos al enemigo a convertirse al Islam.

Durante más de cuatro años, bin Laden y al-Zawahiri han llevado a cabo públicamente esta campaña y cumplido esto requisitos varias veces. En la práctica, al-Qaeda ha ido lo que parece varios pueblos más allá al intentar asegurarse de que los americanos reconocen la seriedad en la amenaza que afrontan. Específicamente, a finales de octubre del 2004, bin Laden hizo un discurso advirtiendo a los americanos que podían elegir electoralmente a quien les pareciera, pero que si la política exterior norteamericana no cambiaba, serían atacados con mayor ferocidad que en el 11 de Septiembre. En ese discurso, bin Laden hablaba en el lenguaje de la referencia Coránica y la poesía islámica, casi como si quisiera asegurarse de que la traducción del árabe al inglés no sería ambigua. El vídeo al-Zawahiri-Azzam del 2 de septiembre lleva esta cuestión un paso más allá utilizando a un converso americano que habla inglés y que puede emplear frases características. Azzam habla directamente a sus conciudadanos y ofrece lo que parece ser una especie de advertencia final antes de que al-Qaeda ataque de nuevo dentro de Estados Unidos. Está claro más allá de toda duda que al-Qaeda no quiere que nadie de Occidente pueda afirmar que los americanos no fueron completamente advertidos con vistas al siguiente ataque en Estados Unidos.

La preocupación más problemática derivada del análisis de los medios occidentales es la que a menudo brilla por su ausencia en tales esfuerzos, que es la realidad de que al-Qaeda, en sus declaraciones y videos, se dirige tanto a los musulmanes como a los occidentales. En el vídeo del 2 de septiembre, por ejemplo, Azzam parece estar completando un proceso prescrito por el profeta Mahoma teniendo un cuidado escrupuloso en dirigirse a los musulmanes al final de su discurso para prevenir reclamaciones por su parte de que es inaceptable que el mujahidín haya dicho que "quiere degollar a los infieles y ahora diga que les invita a convertirse el Islam". "Nuestra respuesta es que nuestro mensaje no ha cambiado y que los mujahidínes han sido siempre los primeros en apelar al Islam. E incluso si la defensa del Islam y los musulmanes de la masacre inclemente y sin escrúpulos de los Cruzados es su primera prioridad, cualquiera que preste atención alguna a los mensajes de los líderes de la jihad, el jeque Osama bin Laden y el jeque Aymán al-Zawahiri, que Alá les proteja, sabrá que han sido constantes invitando a los americanos y a los infieles al Islam, y presionándoles queriendo lo mejor para ellos, y dejando claro ante todos que no tienen elección sino luchar contra aquellos que luchan contra nosotros, y que de estar las cosas en nuestras manos, preferiríamos que todos los americanos y los demás infieles abandonasen su agresión y abandonasen la infidelidad y aceptaran la verdad".

Azzam cierra su discurso, y, parece, el esfuerzo de al-Qaeda por ejecutar los requisitos de guerra, diciendo a los musulmanes - e implícitamente a todos los americanos - que los mujahidínes no pueden esperar mucho una respuesta norteamericana positiva de convertirse en Islam. "El Islam nos anima a invitar incluso a los enemigos más impermeables y darles la oportunidad del arrepentimiento", admite Azzam, pero "lo que es realmente sorprendente es que algunos [musulmanes] de entre nosotros quieren que baste con la invitación por sí sola sin recurrir a la autodefensa cuando el enemigo insiste en la agresión y la destrucción a propósito".

El Papa Benedicto XVI desata la ira de los musulmanes

Tal y como paso con los cartones de mahoma,parece que de nuevo se va a encender la hoguera del odio musulman, aunque ahora es mas grave ya que es contra el lider de la iglesia catolica (que por cierto es mi iglesia) y todo por que El Papa les dijo la verdad sobre la yihad y mahoma:

Una oleada de indignación entre los musulmanes es la que ha desatado las palabras de papa Benedicto XVI sobre el Islam y el profeta Mahoma. Por todos los rincones del mundo islámico se alzaron voces críticas y una bomba detonó hoy frente a una iglesia en la Franja de Gaza.- El papa Benedicto todavía se encontraba en las nubes. Al avión de Lufthansa que transportaba a Roma al honorable pasajero aún le quedaban varias millas por recorrer cuando en tierra estallaba la oleada de indignación entre los musulmanes.
Primero fue Turquía, donde un líder espiritual musulmán calificó de "hostiles y provocadoras" las palabras del Papa sobre el Islam. Pero la disputa no había hecho más que empezar. En unas pocas horas la polémica se agudizó.
Ya en la tarde del jueves un portavoz del Vaticano intentó calmar los ánimos, pero todo fue en vano. Cuando se cumple año y medio desde que se puso al frente de la Iglesia católica, Joseph Ratzinger acaba de desatar con su discurso un conflicto abierto con el Islam.
Tampoco su predecesor, el polaco Juan Pablo II, estaba considerado demasiado moderado. En varias ocasiones se pronunció sobre el Islam y la violencia y condenó a los "rehenes del terrorismo". "No a la violencia en nombre de la religión", era el credo del anterior Papa, que pronunciaba con ira estas palabras alzando el puño. "Eso lo decía todo", opina un teólogo en Roma, "y los musulmanes sabían lo que quería decir". Pero el combativo polaco no fue más lejos.
Expertos vaticanos se dieron cuenta inmediatamente de que el discurso que Ratzinger pronunció en la universidad de Ratisbona había metido el dedo en la llaga. Según Marco Politi, un reputado vaticanista, la forma en que el Papa trata a los musulmanes es algo "rara". Hasta hoy. La Organización de la Conferencia Islámica (OIC) acusó a Benedicto XVI de haber iniciado una "campaña de difamación" contra el Islam y el profeta Mahoma. El Parlamento paquistaní exigió que el pontífice retirara sus palabras. Mientras, los medios italianos señalaban que el conflicto parece estar fuera de control.
"En lo que respecta al profeta Mahoma y al Corán, Benedicto ha roto un tabú", intenta explicar el diario romano "La Reppublica". Es cierto que los líderes espirituales pueden hablar sobre la ética, la ideas sobre la paz o la política familiar de los demás, "pero nunca sobre los textos sagrados ni los dogmas" de otras religiones. Y sobre todo, las críticas al profeta Mahoma son un tabú.
La realidad es que Ratzinger, en su conflictivo discurso, remitió a las Suras del Corán y desenterró la vieja polémica sobre la Yihad. Como de pasada recogió un complicado debate entre la razón y la fe (su tema favorito). Entonces citó a un emperador bizantino medieval, que hace más de 600 años dijo que Mahoma sólo hizo "cosas malas e inhumanas". ¿Era consciente Benedicto XVI de los sentimientos que estaba hiriendo con sus palabras?
"Ratzinger ha abierto un debate", opinan en cambio los teólogos en Roma. "El Islam debe aclarar su relación con la violencia y la guerra santa". Desde hace tiempo se alzan voces en Roma que creen que sólo con el pedido de "diálogo" no se llegará más lejos en el tema del Islam y la violencia.
"Si hubiese atentados como los del 11 de septiembre en nombre del Dios cristiano, cada sacerdote de parroquia echaría pestes sobre ello desde el púlpito", opinó una fuente vaticana. Lo que se interpreta como un reclamo a los clérigos musulmanes para que hagan lo mismo. Algo que ya había pedido Juan Pablo II, el combativo polaco, aunque sin citas confusas y sabiondas del medievo.

Juma's role seems to be similar to the role of Mohammad Atta who lead the first hijacked plane into the World Trade Center on 9/11. The Pentagon was also attacked and it is possible Washington - New York are being targeted again.
According to the Pakistani journalist, explosives and nuclear material have been smuggled into the U. S. through the Mexican border. In September 1997 the CBS program 60 Minutes interviewed former Russian General Alexander Lebed who stated that when the Soviet Union broke up, a lot of suitcase size nuclear bombs were unaccounted for, nearly 200 of them. There was no speculation as to were they went but everyone knew, before the interview, that a lot of what the Soviet Union had did indeed go south including Russian scientists who are no strangers to nuclear material and eager to serve anyone who could pay them more than Moscow.
The bombs look like a suitcase and they can also fit inside one. They only weigh 60-100 lbs and if you see a man carrying one it will look like he is carrying a suitcase. I believe it was mentioned than in terms of nuclear energy, the bombs were 1 kiloton. They were initially designed to destroy a large enemy military base but if they are detonated in an urban center it could kill 50,000-100,000 people.


2.-Osama bin Laden is planning to carry out new, more destructive attacks inside the United States, and there is someone working on this terror plot currently in the US, according to Hamid Mir, the famed Pakistani journalist who obtained the only post-9/11 interviews with Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri. In an interview quoted on the website of the al-Arabiya television network, Mir spoke about his last trip to Afghanistan and his meeting with al-Qaeda members and Taliban leaders.In his interview with Al.Arabiya.net, Mir said that the al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters referred to attacks targeting the US-led coalition forces during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan which begins on 24 September, and that the al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden was in "good" health during a meeting he had recently with the Taliban leader, Mullah Mohammed Omar. Mir also said that bin Laden has assigned a man named Adnan Al-Shukri Juma to carry out a new attack within the US which is intended to be larger than the 11 September, 2001 attacks. According to Mir, Adnan Jumaa has smuggled explosives and nuclear materials into the US through the Mexican border over the last two years and is hiding somewhere in America where the FBI has not been able to locate him...The American writer, Paul Williams, in his book "The Al-Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime, and the Coming Apocalypse", says he was among a number of Al-Qaeda members trained for the nuclear technology. “Projecting Future Jihadi Terrorism, five years after 9/11.”
1. Who is the enemy?
The first question to be addressed is the identification of the enemy. Who are they and how do we identify them? For one analytical mistake made at this level would send the United States and its allies fighting either the wrong war or against the wrong enemy: America’s efforts may be derailed by an enemy deflecting our attention from the real objectives, or deflected from engaging the enemy’s most vital assets he has against us.
a. The issue of the name:
The enemy who flew airliners against the Twin Towers and the Pentagon, the one the US defeated in Tora Bora and are still engaging in the Sunni triangle in Iraq; and that enemy which is still striking against Democracies and allies around the world has a name for itself: Jihadists (al jihadiyun). It uses an ideology with a name, Jihadism (al jihadiya); it recruits with a very specific set of doctrines and operates under ideologically-grounded strategies: Hence, the U.S needs to be specific in calling the enemy with its real name. U.S leaders shouldn’t be vague in their description of the enemy as Terrorists-only or to be dragged into the enemy’s trap as to alleged distortion of “what Jihad could mean.” U.S leaders can surely use a variety of descriptions, such as Islamists, Islamo-Fascists, Islamic-Terrorists, but the US Government and the allies in the War on Terror should define the enemy officially as Jihadists.
b. The two trees
The Jihadists are of two ideological types: Salafist, who are radicals who developed within Sunni societies, and Khomenists, who are radicals who developed within Shiia communities. The Salafists have various ideological and political branches: Wahabis, Muslim Brotherhood, Tablighi and others. From this “tree” came al Qaeda, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Jemaa Islamiya, Salafi Combat Group, and dozens of smaller groups around the world. The Khomeinists are the radical clerics in control of Iran. They have created Hezbollah in Lebanon, and along with the latter expanded cells around the world. The head of Salafi Jihadists today is al Qaeda; the head of Khomeinist Jihadism is the Iranian regime.
2. The Jihadi wars against the US leading to 9/11
It is strategically important to reassess the history of the Jihadi campaigns against America leading to 9/11. The first Terrorist engagement against U.S presence was by Iranian-sponsored Hezbollah as of 1983 in Beirut. The Khomeinist direct Terror campaign lasted till 1990 before it entered a second stage of regional expansion, and strategic penetration and preparation worldwide and within the United States for the future. The Salafi Jihadists before 1990, were concentrating on the Soviet Union, but preparing against America and the West. Since 1990, they refocused on the US, on its allies and within the Arab World.
During the 1990s, the Salafi Jihadists waged Terror in multiple countries, including in Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Russia, Kashmir, Sudan, the Philippines, and beyond. Their international network, al Qaeda concentrated on the United States. Al Qaeda and its allies penetrated Democracies and America since the 1990s. The major strategic failure of the U.S and of its allies was their inability to identify or to counter the Jihadi penetration and action both internationally and nationally. The 9/11 Commission Final Report of 2004 covered a significant aspect of these historical failures throughout the 1990s, but missed two major ones: First, the fact that the U.S and its allies didn’t identify the ideology of Jihadism as the producer of Terrorists and Terrorism; and second, the fact that the Jihadi strategic penetration of the Homeland was in fact a threat to national security. A “September 11” was possible because the enemy counted on the poor perception by the Government, little mobilization by the public, and more importantly, the possibility that the Jihadi factory within America will be able to produce Future Terrorism.
3) War with Jihadism since 9/11
a) Is there a progress in the struggle against “Islamic Terrorism?”
There has been a significant progress in the conflict with Jihadi-Terrorism, both internationally and within the U.S Homeland.
Internationally: al Qaeda lost the one regime that provided a state-sponsoring of its worldwide activities, Afghanistan. It wasn’t able to reclaim any other regime yet. While it has recruited larger numbers of militants from the Islamist pools around the world, anti-Jihadist energies were also freed in many countries such as in Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon, as well as in other areas. More countries are putting minimal energies against the rising Jihadi efforts, which is a better global situation than before 9/11. This is progress in the war but the turning point –in either direction- didn’t occur yet.Within the US: Al Qaeda lost the ability of a strategic surprise war since 9/11, but not its ability for strikes yet. By creating the Homeland Security Structure and maintaining a minimal mobilization of the public, the US Government has been making progress on the domestic front, in comparison with regression before 9/11.But this progress, both internationally and domestically, is hanging on the ability of the United States and its allies to move forward, faster and with a strategic mutation in the next stage of the War with al Qaeda, while also preparing for the possibility of the engagement by the “Khomeinist” threat abruptly. If the US stops, waiver, or confuse its vision of its enemies and their plans, the entire progress can be reversed to the advantage of the Jihadi Terrorists.
b) Was “Islamic Terrorism” weakened?
In summary: The Islamists have been weakened in ways they haven’t understood yet, but they would soon realize and act accordingly; but at the same time they have empowered themselves in the US in ways Americans haven’t fully grasped yet, but they can still reverse. By thrusting into their areas of production and spreading, the US-led coalition opened spaces for counter-Jihadi forces to rise. Al Qaeda and its allies, and the Iranian regime and its allies feel the danger but they can’t assess the long term challenge they will be facing. Unfortunately, the international coalition also doesn’t seem to realize that with few more initiatives, it can turn the tide on the Jihadists. However a number of strategic shortcomings are stopping the coalition from turning that tide. If the US-led campaign is not given the opportunity to redirect some of its resources into engaging the War of Ideas successfully, the future of this War on Terror is at risk. The Islamists-Jihadists have also penetrated Democracies, including the US, in ways that aren’t fully comprehended yet among the public and large segment of Government. They have been weakened in their pre-9/11 classical abilities to infiltrate. But their second generation is growing in recruitment and thus in Terrorism potential, until a higher level mobilization takes place in America.
c) Are there deficiencies in the struggle against “Islamic Terrorism?”
Yes there are three types of deficiencies:
1. A war of ideas is still been waged against the American strategic perception of the enemy. Ideological efforts are ongoing to blur the vision of Americans in general, media and Government in particular with regards to the identity of the enemy, its aims, its strategies and the strategies needed to defeat it.2. One result of the misperception of the enemy is granting the Jihadists more time and capacity to further infiltrate and penetrate the country.3. Another result of the misperception of the enemy is failing to empower potential allies in the Greater Middle East, particularly civil society entities.
d) How has Jihadism evolved since 9/11
Inside the US and its allies in Europe, the Jihadist movement is absorbing the counter terrorism pressures, analyzing the measures and is mutating to bypass them. It has designed two stages in its warfare: One is the development stage. It covers the spread of the ideology, the recruitment from the indoctrinated pools of militants, and the penetration of the national systems. The second stage occurs when the strikes are prepared and launched. U.S systems are countering them only at the final stage that is, in their preparation for Terror activities.
e) From where are they drawing support?
The Jihadists inside the United States are drawing their support from the reality that their space of indoctrination, recruitment and mobilization is not under legal or public sanctioning or pressure. They can operate up to 90% of their strategic growth under the current laws.
f) Are Americans complacent in considering the terrorist threat?
Since 9/11, the subsequent conflicts, and the Terror horrors around the world, the American public in general is developing a greater concern regarding the Jihadi Terror threat. Most Americans, by instincts and through images, understand that the threat is real and great. But the public is submitted to diverging final analysis on the War on Terror on behalf of its officials, politicians, media and academics. Thus the full talents of society are not mobilized yet.
g) What does the recent Hezbollah/Israel conflict mean for the broader struggle against terrorism?
Hezbollah’s initial trigger of the War with Israel in July 2006, regardless of the current consequences, indicated that the Iran-Syria axis has reached a point of non return with the international community and has decided to wage a wider Terror war to deflect the immediate pressures: The UN Nuclear crisis with the Ahmedinijad regime and the UN investigation in the assassination of former Prime Minister Hariri regarding Syria. In fact the greater concerns of Tehran and Damascus are the democracy experiments in the region and across their borders, from Afghani and Iraqi elections to the Cedars Revolution in Lebanon. The course of events in Lebanon and Iraq shows, despite the UN resolutions 1559 and 1701, that the intelligence-Terrorist apparatus of the Iranian and Syrian regimes, of Hezbollah and other organizations including Hamas and PIJ, are moving to position themselves to act not only to confront Israel, but to renew the Terror war in Lebanon, increase Terror involvement in Iraq, trigger additional Terror action from Gaza and the West Bank, and threaten moderate Arab countries. A more dangerous move on behalf of this regional axis would be to use its assets and networks around the world and within the US for Terror activities, when decision in that sense is made. But the most dangerous threat to be faced by American and Western security, if not international security, would be in the next five years, actions taken simultaneously by both “trees,” even without direct coordination, and eventually using unconventional weapons.
4: General recommendationsFive years after, learning from the road to 9/11, and reading in the strategies of the Jihadists from both “trees,” I would offer the following recommendations, some of which I have advanced in my book Future Jihad.
A: The U.S and its allies must deliver and win the battle of identifying, defining and naming the enemy. Legislative branches in America and within Democracies worldwide must have the political courage, the right knowledge and the wisdom to address this challenge. The current state of national and international laws is not able to provide a historic basis for Governments, media and public to mobilize fully against an enemy living and thriving within these societies.
B: Counter Terrorism strategies must be designed to intercept the Jihadists before they engage in Terror acts, and intercept the ideological threat before it produce the Jihadists. To do so, the public must be granted the knowledge and provided with the right information. With a higher level of national talents, Homeland Security’s capacities will meet the growing challenge before it reaches irreversible trends.
C: From other countries one could learn from components of successful experiences: Jordan and Morocco in the Muslim confrontation of Islamist extremism, the UK and Australia in their counter Terrorism tactics; but also learn from the resistance of civil societies to Terrorist ideologies in the Greater Middle East.
D: The nation is facing the challenge of what is being described as a choice between Civil Liberties and National Security: It is a false choice that shouldn’t be imposed on the citizens of America and Democracies worldwide. For by educating, informing and preparing citizens, legislators, judges and public servants regarding the nature of the enemy, a common understanding of its ideology, plans and tactics, would bring together the various components of US national security and justice, without even having to weaken liberties. A better informed judge (known as Counter Terrorism Judges in Europe) would work faster and easier with Law enforcement, and better informed citizens wouldn’t feel that the choice is even to be made between security and rights.From that perspective “Monitoring” will be directed at the Terrorists and citizens would be excluded systematically from discrimination. The real resistance against Terrorism will be achieved when citizens will be part of that effort to isolate the Terrorists.
E: To better “attack the ideology fueling Terrorism” the United States must first pin it down, explain it, name it and expose it. The US Congress, representing the American People must enact laws that would equate the Jihadism of al Qaeda and Hezbollah with racism and Terrorism. Once the public at home and civil societies overseas can see the ideology of the enemy, then they can isolate it and reject it as is the case of Fascism, Nazism and Racism. Salafist and Khomeinist Jihadism are the pillars of Jihadism. They should be denounced and rendered illegal: Militant ideologies, that renders segments of humanity vulnerable to violence, murder and genocide cannot be allowed to recruit within civil societies.
In conclusion, the United States and its allies are delivering an up hill battle against an enemy that has prepared for and declared a universal war against free societies and democracy, decades before America decided to respond. However to reach the turning point in the War on Terror, the War of Ideas has to be won: The American public has to be granted real knowledge of the enemy and civil societies overseas have to be granted real support. This is how Jihadi Terrorism can be defeated historically.

Los terroristas de Al Qaeda deben sentirse incomprendidos. A pesar de todos sus esfuerzos a partir de 1998 para explicar a la comunidad de los creyentes y a todo el mundo cuáles son los fundamentos de su acción, qué objetivos buscan y por qué medios, un amplio sector de los medios occidentales, incluidos representantes de sus víctimas, sigue empeñado en buscar todo tipo de coartadas para no mirar de frente al fondo ideológico de su estrategia.Con gran frecuencia, el problema es abordado únicamente desde una óptica determinista, como si el factor económico -la explotación del Tercer Mundo en la globalización-, el sociológico -la marginación de los jóvenes en los suburbios de Occidente-, el político -la proyección imperialista de Estados Unidos sobre Oriente Próximo- o el doctrinal -la incomprensión, o la aversión, ante el islam en Occidente- dieran como precipitado el actual fenómeno yihadista. Nadie puede negar, por supuesto, que esa pluralidad de factores, a la que se suman datos coyunturales, tales como la catastrófica política de Bush en la zona, desempeñan un papel importante, como lo hizo en el pasado el ensayo de occidentalización por vía colonial, pero dominación económica existe en otras regiones del planeta, y las alternativas, por ejemplo el resurgido indigenismo en Latinoamérica o las variantes del populismo caudillista, nada tienen que ver con la práctica del terror.
Los ciclos de violencia juvenil forman ya un componente de la vida social en nuestras sociedades, pero sus manifestaciones no consisten en la formación de grupos de afinidad integristas que acaban preparando la voladura de aviones. Frente a Israel y su apoyo norteamericano, una cosa era la acción nacionalista de Al Fatah, y otra, la vertiente yihadista de Hamás o de Hezbolá. Y, cosa olvidada, la suerte de las minorías judías y cristianas en los países musulmanes no es muy ventajosa, más allá de los tópicos sobre la tolerancia y "la protección" prestada a las gentes del libro (pensemos en Sudán). Y nadie responde con el terror.
Exclusión estéril

En una palabra, resulta fácil, pero intelectualmente estéril, fundir en la línea de Edward Said la justa denuncia de la visión orientalista en Occidente con la exclusión de toda posibilidad de ejercer la crítica sobre el mundo árabe en general, y sobre las formas violentas del islam en particular.
Para entender cuanto sucede en la órbita de Al Qaeda, cuya proyección tiene lugar hoy como organización y como inspirador doctrinal, y también la variante iraní, del terror de los ayatolás a Hezbolá, hay que acudir a los procesos endógenos de formación del yihadismo, desde que en la segunda mitad del siglo XX tiene lugar la radicalización del islamismo versión Hermanos Musulmanes, reforzada luego con otra radicalización, la del wahabismo saudí. La citada variante shií sigue una senda propia, no sólo por su original sustrato ideológico, sino por la excepcionalidad de contar con los medios económicos de un Estado. Es así como Hezbolá ha podido ir más allá de su condición inicial de simple grupo terrorista, inventor de los vehículos suicidas, y convertirse en una organización político-social que gracias al dinero de Irán desempeña una importante labor asistencial en medios shiíes libaneses, con vocación hegemónica tanto en el orden político como en el militar. El terrorismo de Estado de la era Jomeini, con el bueno de Salman Rushdie como más visible chivo expiatorio, y con víctimas tan entrañables como el ex primer ministro Shapur Bakhtiar, ha pasado a ser la base de una política expansiva, propia de una potencia regional, con un objetivo concreto: la eliminación de Israel. La lógica de esa estrategia no debe ser pasada por alto: todos los medios son válidos para eliminar a quien se oponga, o se haya opuesto, al poder religioso y a sus dogmas.
Al mismo tiempo que eran ajustadas las piezas de la construcción doctrinal, el contexto político interno y regional favoreció el paso a la violencia desde la década de 1970. La importancia del primer aspecto, casi siempre desdeñada, resulta fundamental, ya que, si bien en la fase de acción militar y elaboración religiosa como "profeta armado", a partir de 622, podían encontrarse suficientes recursos, simbólicos y ejemplares, para legitimar una yihad con terror, había que adaptar algunos elementos de ese escenario al presente. En el orden técnico no habrá dificultades, ya que vencer al adversario podía hacerse por la espada en el siglo VII y hoy por los explosivos o con el Kaláshnikov, como muestra la portada del folleto sobre la necesidad de la yihad, pagado con dinero saudí, que podía comprarse en cualquier librería cercana a las mezquitas de Londres hasta julio del año pasado. Pero había que mostrar, como hizo el paquistaní Maududi, tan bien retratado en el filme El silencio del agua, o como puso en práctica el sudanés Al Turabi, que con la ley coránica en la mano, aplicando estrictamente la sharía, la destrucción de la satánica libertad occidental era realizable, instaurando un orden social enjaulado en las reglas dictadas por el Corán y los hadices, leídos desde una óptica ultraconservadora. Ya el fundador de los Hermanos Musulmanes, Hassan al Banna, presentado por su nieto Tariq Ramadan bajo los rasgos de un reformador progresista, dejó claro qué tipo de sociedad cerrada aspiraba a implantar en todos los aspectos, desde la imposibilidad de una política laica hasta el fin de la libre expresión. Conviene recordarlo cuando con demasiada facilidad se ignora que la instauración del islamismo, propuesto en su versión moderada con suaves palabras, incorpora necesariamente la violencia contra el disidente. Por algo el juramento de entrada en los Hermanos Musulmanes se hacía sobre el Corán, con un revólver a su lado.
Para que resultase eficaz la actuación de esos "caballeros bajo el estandarte del Profeta", como designó Al Zawahiri a los terroristas de su grupo en el 11-S, era necesario montar un tinglado de analogías, de manera que los aspectos más agresivos del Corán encontrasen aplicación a la realidad del siglo XX. Es así como el gobernante infiel es designado una y otra vez, de acuerdo con la ramplona caracterización coránica, como faraón: todo faraón, ejemplo Sadat, ha de ser eliminado. Otro tanto le sucede al tirano, o taghut, término con el que Jomeini se dirigía al Sha. Y sobre todo el estado de ignorancia primordial que caracterizara a los adversarios mequíes de Mahoma, la yahiliyya, es al parecer del todo aplicable a las sociedades, intelectuales y Gobiernos occidentales del día, según sugirió Maududi y divulgó con éxito hasta hoy el egipcio Sayyid Qutb. Sólo falta la articulación de las distintas piezas por la codificación que desde el año 1300 proporcionó "el jeque del islam" (palabra de Bin Laden), Ibn Taymiyya, para que funcione el mecanismo de adhesión a la verdad religiosa, en el marco del sujeto de la acción, la umma o comunidad de los creyentes, y de rechazo radical del otro, con la consiguiente voluntad de destrucción. Ese momento de codificación es también el de las cruzadas, cuando la yihad elimina a los invasores cristianos. Nueva analogía, Israel, Estados Unidos, los occidentales en general, son los nuevos cruzados a los que los creyentes eliminarán con la ayuda de Alá.En la versión ofrecida por los dirigentes de Al Qaeda, el islamismo radical se convierte en yihadismo en la medida en que todos los elementos religiosos, utilizados con una sincera voluntad de ortodoxia, pasan a girar en torno a la guerra contra el infiel (gentes del libro incluidas). El yihadismo es un salafismo, porque se legitima por el regreso a la edad de oro de los "piadosos antepasados", el tiempo del Profeta. Pero también aquí introduce la simplificación de centrar todo en la voluntad de aniquilamiento del adversario.
Terror sin límites

De ahí la apología de un terror que, dada la disparidad de fuerzas existente, "lleve el miedo hasta los fetos en los vientres de sus madres". Ese terror es explícitamente alabado, lo mismo que el mártir, que sigue el patrón definido en los libros sagrados y recibe la correspondiente recompensa.Una vez fijados estos principios, que en países como Inglaterra fueron hasta hace un año objeto de una divulgación sin trabas en mezquitas, casetes, vídeos y folletos, los problemas tácticos adquieren una decisiva importancia. Sin la eficacia inicial. Lo cual no significa la eliminación de un riesgo persistente de imperio del terror, dado el impacto cada vez mayor de las doctrinas que propugnan el enfrentamiento a Occidente y la cohesión de tipo religioso que va adquiriendo la umma, gracias a los trágicos errores del tipo de "guerra antiterrorista" puesta en práctica por Washington. El ultimo mensaje de Al Qaeda y su inquietante significado

El dia de hoy Al qaeda publico un mensaje dirigido directamente a occidente y muy en particular a los EE.UU,fue hecho por un estadounidense convertido al islam y advierte claramente (tal y como lo ordena mahoma) que antes de atacar a los enemigos hay que invitarlos a convertirse al islam,cosa que no hizo Bin laden antes del 11-S y por la que fue muy criticado por clerigos musulmanes radicales cercanos a el:

CAIRO, Egypt - Al-Qaida's deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahri issued a new videotape Saturday along with a man identified as an American member of the terror network, inviting Americans to convert to Islam.
As narrated in the ahadith, Muhammad himself stipulated that the mujahedin invite an enemy to Islam before an attack:
When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them. ... If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya [tax]. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them. (Sahih Muslim 19.4294)
The 41-minute video, posted on an Islamic militant Web site nine days before the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, had footage of al-Zawahri and a man the video identified as Adam Yehiye Gadahn, an American who the FBI believes attended al-Qaida training camps in Pakistan and served as an al-Qaida translator.
Gadahn and al-Zawahri did not appear together in the footage but were each featured on a split screen. Both wore white turbans and robes.
It was the second time Gadahn has appeared in the same video with al-Zawahri. In a July 7 video marking the one-year anniversary of bombings against the London transit system, Gadahn said no Muslim should "shed tears" for Westerners killed by al-Qaida attacks.
"To the American people and the people of the West in general ... God sent his Prophet Muhammad with guidance and the religion of truth ... and sent him as a herald," al-Zawahri said in an introduction to Saturday's video.
Gadahn spoke with his face uncovered, resembling FBI photos, with his name and nom de guerre -- "Azzam the American" -- written in titles in Arabic and English next to him.
"We invite all Americans and unbelievers to Islam," Gadahn said, sporting a long, thick black beard with a computer terminal in the background.
Gadahn, a 28-year-old from California who converted to Islam, is wanted by the FBI in connection with possible terrorist threats against the United States, though the agency says it has no information linking him to any specific terrorist activities.
Gadahn spoke for much of the video, saying he wanted to correct the image Americans have of Islam.
He described the West as "the civilization which enslaved Africa, slaughtered native Americans, fired bombs at ... Tokyo and (the Iraqi city of) Fallujah and nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki."
He said America shows more concern for archaeological sites, like statues of Bhudda destroyed by Afghanistan's former Taliban rulers, "than it shows of the people of Afghanistan and Iraq."
He said "ignorance" of Islam "causes the people of the West to rapturously applaud when Israel perpetrates wholesale slaughter of Muslims in Lebanon and Palestine and leads them to give their consent to the atrocities that governments commit in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere in the Muslim world."
The video, issued by al-Qaida's production wing As-Sahab, had been advertised on militant Web sites for several days before it appeared Saturday.
